Scrapbooking

Saturday night my scrapbooking friends and I got together at Archivers for Scrapmania. I worked on finishing two projects that I just needed to add pictures too, a two page layout and my dreaded St. Pat's album. I will finish it some day it is just taking awhile!

This layout is from CKC St Louis Basic Grey Class from last April. My goal is to try to use up what I got last year before this years CKC.... I am getting close.

I also did this layout last night based on the Studio Calico Sunday Sketch with my January kit.

The rest of the weekend was pretty normal, just ran some errands, ate some good food (I made the Pioneer Woman's spinach salad), took Ashley to her first movie The Princess and the Frog, and visited with my parents.

It is supposed to snow again... wait maybe not... well we just need to "watch" this low pressure system. Meteorologists have the easist job, they can just guess and leave it to us to figure out.

Scrapbooking

Just a quick layout I did last night with an Archiver's Scrap Pack from a crop I attended. I didn't really follow the layout idea from Archiver's but went out on my own getting inspiration for the layout from Kelly Purkey's Super Sketches class at Two Peas.

Weekend Recap

24... Did you watch??? Jack is back. I thought he was retired? NO and he already killed two people in the first hour. Can't wait for tonight's two hours. I still say this is some of the best TV out there!

We had a pretty laid back weekend except for two birthday parties. Happy 2nd Birthday to our niece Kaitlin and Happy 3rd Birthday to our friend Aidan!

Oh and I did start watching AI. Ugh time drain already. But I do think it is funny how the "Pants on the Ground" song is catching on. I saw a clip of Brett Favre doing it after the Vikings win. Maybe there will be a rush on belts this week!

Scrapbooking

A new layout I did last night with my January Studio Calico kit based on their blog sketch for the week.

In other news...
Last night we finally bought Ashley some fish for conquering potty training. Three neon tetras to be exact which she promptly named "Pee-Pee", "Wee-Wee" and "Trinity". Unusual names but she got the first two names from The Dumb Bunnies Go to the Zoo book and the third well she loves her doggy. Well.... the fish didn't make it overnight. She didn't seem to sad this morning, in fact when Dave corrected her for tapping on the glass her reply was "Why, it doesn't matter." I guess we will let the tank set for a week and try again.

My Opinion

Jay Leno vs Conan
I have never ever liked Conan and Leno has always been okay (but the better of the two in my book). It sucks that Leno's new show didn't make it, I would watch randomly and it was always funny and fresh. I am sure NBC has a good handle on the ratings and knows where Leno needs to be. Yeah to NBC for pushing back Conan. Have you watched his show? I tried once and it was bad... really really bad. I even tried to switch and watch the Letterman show (which I used to love) but he has really gotten stuck and nothing was new and funny. Also I really really hated the "things better than reading Sarah Palin's book" feature, that definitely got me to turn the channel quickly.

Mark McGwire
Yep I still LOVE him. As part of the agreement with the Cardinals to be our hitting coach he was required to address the steroids issue. The timing was great... nothing really going on in the baseball world and the air will be clean before the team reports for spring training. So what he used steroids, he still did allot for baseball and made 1998 a year I will never forget. If you had half a brain you knew this long ago and this was just a formality. The part that really sucks is that he will never make it into the hall of fame. GO CARDS!!! and yes highway 70 should still bear his name!

American Idol and Simon Cowell
To watch or not to watch? After last season (which I think really sucked... can you even remember who won?) I am seriously considering not watching this season. Some shows just run their course. Plus the whole Ellen factor kinda scares me... do I really want to listen to her jokes and what constructive input can she really give? Did you see her as a guest judge on SYTYCD? It was not good, basically all about her and her jokes, nothing about the dancing.
I am sad to hear Simon leaving after this season, he really makes the show for me. Honest and tells it like it is. I am curious to watch his new show X Factor, I hope it is not like Americas Got Talent because I could never get into that show.

So what do you think?

More Scrapbooking

I spent most of Christmas working on my craft project and a Travel Journal for David's Aunt Donna. So I was seriously deprived of my creative time. I finished all my wrapping early so I spent nap time on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day scrapbooking and it felt oh soooo good. Here is what I got done.

Scrapbooking

What I should have done last night... take down the Christmas tree (to my credit all my other decorations are down and put away... just not the tree).

What I did last night... Scrapbooking!
Based on a sketch on the Studio Calico blog.

New Years

No I am not dead....seems like it when you neglect your blog... but I have been spending time with some of my most favorite ladies...
Good times were had by all! Here is my recipe for a good time...
  • 15 adults, 8 kids, 8 dogs
  • Two lake homes
  • One long weekend
  • Lots of beer
  • Lots of margaritas
  • Champagne toast at midnight to ring in the New Year
  • Scott passing out on the couch
  • Lots of food (chili, honey baked ham, guac, salsa, southwest dip)
  • Lots of sweets (chocolate cake, cookies, carmelitas)
  • Deep fried goodness (turkey, cheese curds, pork rinds... so good but oh so bad)
  • Watching the movie "The Hangover"
  • The men shooting trap
  • The women shopping (and no coach purses were bought, simply a miracle)
  • Steak dinner (without kids)
  • Babysitters!
  • Hollywood Dolly's (and really cheap bear)
  • Boat races (even though the boys won)
  • Lots of snow
  • The men excited to help with car removal (Pollard tearing the crotch out of his pants)
  • Casey's mad car driving skills
  • Casey getting excited about visiting Illusions
  • Meeting Greg for the first time
  • Broken dishwasher
Throw it all together with the most awesome friends and you are guaranteed a great time!
